In some recent news reports, it was mentioned that there is a possibility of increase in mosquito breeding sites in Singapore, especially when the weather is blazing hot for the past few days. Routine checks are still in place but do you know if your area is close to a dengue cluster?
For those who do not take notice of the big banners that count the cases of dengue fever occurring in your precinct, it is time to find out the information on OneMap!
Dengue cluster is a layer parked under the 'Themes' icon.
Let's look at an example of how you can find if your area is a dengue cluster.
Users can type in the address or a place name in the search button. Let's say 'The EastSide'. The map would zoom to the extent where the apartment is in focus.
To turn on the dengue cluster layer, go to 'Themes' and then 'Health' option and select 'Dengue Cluster'.
There are a total of 2 records within the map view. That means to say that the area is a dengue cluster zone. Users can click on the dengue icon to view more information of the number of cases in the area.
When you click 'more info', the browser will bring you to the NEA dengue webpage where you can find more details about the current statistics for dengue cases and the list of places with high number of cases.
What's more, you can learnt a tip or 2 on how to prevent mosquito from breeding. The application developed on the NEA webpage maintains the same information as OneMap.sg and both are updated on a weekly basis. So users can be assured of reliable information across the 2 sites!
