Gallery Icon - Location-Based Commerce

Posted by OneMap | Wednesday, March 9, 2011 | Category: , , , |

Next on the list of services provided by private companies using OneMap is the Location-Based Commerce, an interesting service by Surround Networks that shows you stuff in your surroundings.

Click on the Location-Based Commerce option and you will be directed to Surround Networks' mysurround.sg website.

First of all, you may wish to enter your location instead of auto locate if you are using the desktop to view the website.

Let's just put our location as 'Revenue House' and hit the GO button. The down arrow icon on the map shows you where Revenue House is. A 'connect to surrounding' widget box pops up with 'live services', 'points of interest' and 'more' tabs for users to choose the different information they wish to see.

If I check the 'Next-Bus Arrivals', the bus stop icons will appear and a list of results will be displayed on the left side of the page, with indication of how far they are away from the selected location.

Users can click on any of the icons to view more information. In this instance, one of the visible bus stop icons is clicked.

By clicking the 'show detail information' option in the dialogue box, users can now view the bus services available at that particular bus stop.

What's even more useful is that you can view the real time information of when the next bus is coming!

You can play around with the wide range of themes under points of interest too.

If what you are searching for is not within the categories in points of interest, click on the 'more' tab to search for it!

Think the search area is too small or too big? No worries, you can even adjust the search radius by selecting the 'connecting radius' distance at the top right of the webpage.

TeamOneMap shall leave readers to explore the rest of the functions!
