Do you know that there is an on-going voting contest to find out which is the most family-friendly business in Singapore? The 'We Welcome Families' awards, organised by the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports's (MCYS) Businesses for Families Council (BFC), will recognise businesses across shopping malls, retail, food & beverage, leisure & lifestyle and services.
You can go to http://www.wewelcomefamilies.sg to find out which are the 37 shortlisted establishments that you can vote for and stand a chance to win attractive prizes!
Now, you know that TeamOneMap is gonna tell you something about OneMap too and yeah, you are right! Haha... Do you know that you can find out more family friendly establishments other than the 37 shortlisted by BFC? In fact, there are over a thousand of them!
Let's get started then!
As usual, I hope you would have guessed it by now, you should navigate to 'Themes' and then to 'Family and Community' and then to 'Family Friendly Estab'.
Click on the 'Family Friendly Estab' option to get the pop up widget on the right. As you can see, there are over 1,600 such establishments! So nice to know that Singapore has so many family friendly places!
Here is something that you may not have noticed... OneMap allows up to 200 small icons to be displayed each time, so you would only see 200 out of over 1,600 of them. Don't need to count if there are exactly 200 of them, trust us ;)
As I look through the list of 37 finalists, I saw an unfamiliar place - Tradehub 21. Where is this place? We can find out in OneMap too. :)
Keep everything as it is, we shall do a search in the search box. Once we are done with typing tradehub 21, just click the Go button.
The map will zoom to an extent close enough for you to identify your searched location. We can see that this place is actually in Boon Lay and there are 2 family friendly establishments within the zoom extent. One of them, as you can see the screenshot, is actually a finalist in the 'We Welcome Family' awards. :)
