The GITEX (GeoSpatial Information and Technology Exchange) Forum was held on the 11th of November at the Treasury Auditorium (see location), which was just a few days ago! It was in a way, an auspicious date and event to me 11th GITEX on 11 / 11 / 2010... a triple 11!
For those of you who are thinking "Er... what is this?!?!", well, this is a forum organised to inform the GIS community about the latest development in the GeoSpatial industry in Singapore! Held once every few months, guest speakers from the public and private sector will be there to present on topics related to GIS. This forum is opened to the public and the best thing is... FREE FOOD! Yes, something many people look forward too! Light refreshment is provided at the interval of the forum.
My office desk (stacked with feedback forms, handouts etc) before we move out to the forum venue! |
Setting up of the 2m tall banner! (No easy feat!) |
Our department out in full force to ensure a smooth registration time. |
Now you see it (the empty seats). |
Now you don't! |
One of our guest speakers, Mr. Max Chua talking on stage |
For those who missed the chance to attend, perhaps it would be good for me to reveal the list of guest speakers and their topics. There you go:
Mr. Bill Shepherd (ESRI Inc.) - Web-based, cloud-based GIS
Mr. Ang Wee Leng (ESRI Singapore) - What's new in ArcGIS 10?
Mr. Matthew Smith (Leica Geosystems) - Network RTK; Maximising the benefits
Mr. Max Chua (GeoEye) - Introduction to EyeQ
Hope these topics are 'mouth-watering' enough for you to enquire more on future GITEX forum!
For those who were there, see you all in the next forum!
