New Service on OneMap: TrafficQuery! Part 1

Posted by OneMap | Friday, June 15, 2012 | Category: |

Hey people! Today TeamOneMap is gonna introduce you a new service on our map portal! Somehow we have an obsession in naming our services with the word "query" (look at LandQuery, SchoolQuery, BizQuery) lol... So this time is no different! Together with the Land Transport Authority (LTA), we have a new service that allows users to know what is going on on the road and hence, we named it "TrafficQuery"!

You can find TrafficQuery in the midst of our long list of services, just mouse over the Services icon and select TrafficQuery to start exploring!

Click the "Accept" button when the widget pops up and you can access the options to display some traffic conditions. Let's take a look at what this service has to offer. :)

There are some basic options that you can check to view the traffic conditions, namely: Traffic Speed, Incidents/Alerts, Live Traffic Camera, Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) and Parking Lots Availability.

When you check the Traffic Speed service, you will be able to see that the roads are marked with different colours. What do the colours mean? To find out, click on the Legend tab within the the widget and you will see what each colour code means. So obviously, the green lines are roads currently experiencing smooth traffic while the red ones are not as smooth.

Next on the list is the Incidents/Alerts service. At this instance while we are blogging, there are 3 such incidents and all of them have a different symbol.

At Woodlands, we have some traffic jam...

At Bugis we have a traffic accident...

And along the ECP, we have a vehicle breakdown...

For all the types of incidents and alerts, we can again go to the Legend tab to view them.

That's all for now, stay tune for part 2 as we cover the Live Traffic Camera, Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) and Parking Lots Availability services in TrafficQuery!
