Nature enthusiasts look here! Do you know that Nature Society (Singapore) has created a birdwatching hotspot application using OneMap?
Yup, and as usual, you can find this map service via our OneMap map portal. Click on the Birdwatching Hotspots option parked under the 'Services' icon and the NSS bird group page featuring OneMap will appear in a new tab/browser.
Within this webpage, you can see that NSS has classified a few areas in Singapore as the different habitats that birds tend to appear at. You have the forest, grassland, mangroves etc. Click on each of the land type images on the right to explore the locations.
Let's say I want to see where the freshwater marshlands are and what type of birds reside there. By clicking on the location, say Kranji Reservoir Marshes, the map will pan to the location and the area will be highlighted in green.
To get the information on the habitat and bird information, simply click on the bird icon on the map and the information will be displayed at the bottom of the map.
For birdwatching enthusiasts, this is certainly the one-stop web based map service to know where are the hotspots to enjoy the peaceful green environment and view the beautiful birds! :)
